On December 4, 2010,
we celebrated the 15th anniversary of the designation of the southernmost of the three fields that comprise
Mill Valley's Bayfront Park as a dog park in the City's masterplan. The park is situated between Richardson
Bay - an arm of San Francisco Bay and the Marin Bike path, a segment of the San Francisco Bay Trail
system. Framed by Sausalito and Strawberry Point, the San Francisco skyline is visible from the park and 2571-foot
Mount Tamalpais, Marin County's dominant landmark, fills much of the park's western view. Clean, safe, well-tended
and very active, the Mill Valley Dog Park is among the most scenic and enjoyable dog parks in the United States.
The park is fenced along its western border with the Marin County Bike Path. Richardson
Bay bounds the park on its eastern and southern sides. It can be entered from the north via the Bike Path
or along the shore of the Bay. There is an entrance in the southwestern corner that connects with the Bike Path
and a gate midway along the Bike Path fence. The park has a large, grassy central area for dog
play. Agility stations have been placed in the southern portion of the park and provide
both fun and training experiences. There
is a wonderful and very unique "official" dog beach at the southeastern corner on Richardson Bay. ♥ Please enjoy Scott
